How to Find the Right Bed Size for Your Child

Choosing the right bed for your child can be tricky. The bed should be comfortable, fit their age, and match your little one’s height. Whether you have a toddler, preschooler, teenager, or something in between, it’s important to pick the right bed size. In this blog, we’ll guide you step by step to find the perfect bed.

Why the right bed size matters
A bed that’s too small can be uncomfortable and affect your child’s sleep. A bed that’s too large can take up unnecessary space in the room. With the right size, your child sleeps well and still has room to play and move around.

Toddler bed (approx. 70x140 cm)
For the little ones, a toddler bed is ideal. It’s low to the ground so your child can safely get in and out. Many toddler beds also have a small safety rail to prevent falls.

Preschooler bed (approx. 90x200 cm)
From about 3 years old, a preschool bed or 90x200 cm single bed is perfect. It gives more space to move around and suits a growing child’s height.

Kids’ bed for teenagers (90x200 cm or larger)
For older children and teenagers, a standard kids bed of 90x200 cm works well. Some teens may already need a larger bed, such as 120x200 cm, for extra comfort.

A good rule of thumb: the bed should be about 20-30 cm longer than your child. That way, the bed “grows” with them and can last for several years.

Extra tips

  • Choose a bed with a removable slatted base so it lasts longer.
  • Consider under-bed storage, great for toys or bedding.
  • Take into account the room size; a bed that’s too big can fill a small room.
